Cardiff boss Malky Mackay has warned the Championship that Birmingham City are putting together an "under the radar" promotion challenge.

Blues head for Wales for tomorrow's clash with their main headlines this season focussing on their Europa League exploits.

It means they are three games behind third-placed Cardiff and Mackay reckons the domestic ambitions of Chris Hughton's team should not be under-estimated.

"I think Birmingham are a team going under the radar because of the Europa League," said Mackay.

"They are experienced players, a lot of them have played in the Premiership.

"The only reason they have gone under a few people's radar is the amount of games they have in hand.

"I fully expect them to be one of the strong teams the end of the season."

Blues' tackle one of the form teams of the second tier fresh from their Carling Cup quarter-final victory over Blackburn.

"They are in very good form and in confident mood having gone through to the semi-finals of the Carling Cup," said Hughton.
