Birmingham boss Chris Hughton is wary of the new manager effect when Blues usher in the era of Derek McInnes at Bristol City.

Hughton takes his side to Ashton Gate in the Championship on Sunday, for that will be former West Brom captain McInnes' first game in charge.

The hosts are likely to be fired up with a new boss at the helm but Blues are in form, having won their last four games in a row.

Last night's last-gasp Europa League victory in Belgium at Club Brugge was the latest to go their way but Hughton is taking nothing for granted.

He said: "We need to be aware of the fact Bristol City have a new manager because that can often have a positive impact.

"But we need to focus on our quality and strengths and take the further positivity and confidence gained last night forward into the game."
