A penalty and a red card handed Birmingham victory over 10-man Leicester at St Andrew's.

Marlon King's spot kick five minutes after the break broke the deadlock and, after Leicester were reduced to 10 men through Matt Mills' straight red card, Chris Wood's late strike sealed the win for Blues.

A flashpoint early in the second-half turned the game with referee Kevin Wright, who replaced ther injured Graham Salisbury at half-time, rightly pointing to the spot after Lee Peltier hacking down Jean Beausejour. King made no mistake from the spot.

Then came another blow for the Foxes with Mills' sending off for a senseless tackle on Morgano Gomis, leaping into the air with two feet to send the Blues midfielder flying, although TV replays showed that the defender got some of the ball.

And luck was again not on the visitors' side when Wood settled the game as a contest, bursting clear of a back-tracking Leicester defence to round goalkeeper Kasper Schmiechel and slot the ball into an empty net.
