Birmingham's wait for their first Premier League away win of the season goes on after a draw at Fulham.

Blues were on the way to their first three points on the road during this campaign after Sebastian Larsson's first-half goal at Craven Cottage, but Clint Dempsey's equaliser after the break proved enough for a point.

However, the visitors nearly found another goal to take that elusive away win, but Scott Dann's header rattled the crossbar late on.

Alex McLeish's men came into the match needing three points to pull clear of the relegation zone, but Fulham are the draw specialists after nine dead-level games this season.

That said, it was Blues who looked the more likely winners after taking the lead with 20 minutes gone.

Alexander Hleb has blown hot and cold since his loan move to St Andrew's from Barcelona but it was his industry that carved open the Fulham defence, a marauding run ending with a well-timed ball to Larsson, who applied the finish.

The visitors were all over their hosts in the first-half, leading to a chorus of boos from the home crowd at the break.

And the growing derision around Craven Cottage inspired Fulham to buck up their ideas in the second-half, with Dempsey grabbing the equaliser eight minutes after the interval, meeting Zoltan Gera's ball with a header in.

Dann rattled the crossbar late on from Larsson corner, before Hleb left the game on a stretcher with a hamstring injury, as Blues were forced to settle for a point.
