Alexander Hleb backs Blues revival
Birmingham midfielder Alexander Hleb has insisted Blues will not be dragged into a relegation battle.
Birmingham midfielder Alexander Hleb has insisted Blues will not be dragged into a relegation battle.
Blues have taken just three points from their last five games and are two points off the bottom after Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Everton, having won just twice in 17 Premier League games going back to March.
But on-loan midfielder Hleb, who was at Barcelona until August, believes there's much too class at St Andrew's to struggle.
He said: "We are good enough. Relegation battle? No, no.
"We can play very well at home. I know that from the past when I played at St Andrew's with Arsenal.
"We have lost something. We just need to find our game and our confidence.
"The team can fight and can play football, but we need a little bit more from the team and the team from me."
Hleb has yet to taste victory in the Premier League for Blues following his move on transfer deadline day.
The club's only league win of the season so far was a 2-1 victory over Blackburn on August 21.
Since then Alex McLeish's side have failed to score in the Premier League at St Andrew's.
They played out goalless draws with Liverpool and Wigan before against Everton - the first time Blues have lost at home in a year.
Goals have been hard to come by but Hleb believes Blues just need to be more aggressive.
He added: "It's very difficult to lose but that's football."
