Kidderminster Harriers players back home recovering after horror collision
Kidderminster Harriers have released a positive update on Christian Dibble and Joe Foulkes following their horrific collision during Saturday's National League North clash at Radcliffe.
The match at Stainton Park was abandoned late in the second half after the Aggborough team-mates collided while attempting to defend a free-kick.
After a lengthy stoppage and amid worrying scenes, the match was abandoned to allow further treatment by medical staff, followed by paramedics from two ambulances.
Both players received lengthy treatment on the pitch for head injuries before being taken by ambulance to hospital. They were both conscious as they left the stadium.
In a tweet on X earlier this morning, Harriers revealed the welcome news that both players are now recovering at home.
"We're happy to share that Christian Dibble and Joe Foulkes have been discharged from hospital," the tweet read.
"Following Saturday's collision, Joe has a fractured eye socket and cheekbone; Christian has suffered concussion. Both will now recover at home with the best wishes and support of us all."
The collision happened as keeper Dibble came to punch away a free-kick delivered into the visitors' penalty area and clashed heads with defender Foulkes.
Harriers boss Adam Murray was full of praise for the fast response from both teams' medical staff.
He said: "Obviously a terrible head collision. Both have got cuts and wounds. Both were unconscious, Dibs especially. I'm not sure if Joe was fully out.
"It wasn't great, and I think in those moments that's more important than football.
“A real credit has to go to all the medical staff there from both teams and the way the physios of both teams handled the situation.
"They were excellent at getting a quick response.
"From where we were, you could see the clash, it was right in line with us, and straight away you know it's not a good one, especially when both players are non-responsive like that.
"I'm not sure what player it was, but somebody has whacked them both into the recovery position straight away. A lot of credit goes to everybody involved in the response because it can be frightening."
The game locked at 1-1 when it was abandoned. Owen Evans had leveled for Harriers before the interval after Rio Clegg had fired the hosts in front.
