Cup final season kicks off in the Sunday League

Cup final season kicks off in the Wolverhampton & District Sunday League this Friday night.

AFC Huntsmen and AFC Wolves will contest the Mac Webb Cup final at Sporting Khalsa's Aspray Arena in Noose Lane, Willenhall, at 7pm.

However, Emerald Athletic's hopes of reaching the final of the Roger Wood Memorial Cup were dashed by a 3-1 defeat at home to Trooper FC, despite a strike from Louie Mason.

Also hitting the cup trail were Victoria and Bradmore United in the Wolverhampton & District Sunday League Charity Cup second round.

Victoria overcame AFC Wolves 2-0 thanks to goals from Alexander Michael Small and Joshua Lewis, while Bradmore were 3-2 winners at Warstones Wanderers Wolves Nation. Nathan Campbell bagged a brace for Warstones, while Bradmore's winning goalscorers were Thomas Moody, Janson Ball and Edward Cartwright.

In the second round of the GA Evans Cup, Dudley Rangers United defeated AFC Willenhall 2-1, courtesy of Callum Campbell and an own goal.

Meanwhile, in league action, Alex Trout bagged a brace for AFC Bradmore in their 2-1 triumph at Connaught United, whose goal came from Wahab Malik.

In Division Two, Tettenhall Athletic won 3-0 at Charlie’s Sports Bar thanks to Daniel Lloyd-Hickman, Alec Taylor and Kieran Morey, while Warstones Wanderers Sunday thrashed Bushbury Hill 8-1 with a brace from Jordan Bradley and single strikes by  Alex Banks, Warren Beards, Jacob McCalla, Jayden McCalla, Luke Cockburn and Bradley Shinton.

There was also a five-goal thriller between DY United and Tettenhall that went the way of the visitors. Samuel Baker and Jake Fairhurst netted for DY, but Mark Giles, Max Hague and Callum Anderson won the day for Tettenhall.

Dean Cartwright hit a hat-trick in AFC Huntsmen's 8-0 victory at AFC Goldthorne, while Rio Dodd, Jordan Hall, Leon Roberts, Harvey Singh-Chutti and Ryan Williams were also on target.

Wolves Pack and Lonestar Hydrobolt Rangers shared four goals and the points, with Ellis Thompson and Sebastian Clifton-Coles netting for Lonestar.

In Division Four, Ashmore Park Rangers RBL beat Old Bush Lions 3-1 thanks to Bryn Hill, Dan Hopson and Kaylem Stacey. Nathan Colbourne replied for Old Bush.

And Archie Russell grabbed the only goal of the game as L&L Football Club edged out Mental Health Harriers.
