It has not been an ideal start to 2026 for Walsall but there are a number of reasons to be positive heading to Tranmere Rovers on Saturday lunch-time.

First, Mat Sadler delivered the news that Daniel Kanu will remain on loan from Charlton Athletic until the end of the season with the widest of grins on Wednesday evening.

He will also stay at Bescot alongside fellow loan pair Myles Roberts and Rico Richards while Fulham under-21s striker Aaron Loupalo-Bi has arrived on loan.

A much-needed boost in attack

Daniel Kanu opened his goal scoring account for Walsall in the 43rd minute.
Daniel Kanu's recall period has ended, as the 13-goal Walsall loanee is set to stay until the end of the season.

Kanu moved on to 13 goals for the season during the 4-2 defeat at Northampton in the EFL Trophy and has netted over 31 per cent of the Saddlers' tally of 32 in League Two this term.

His goals have been instrumental in propelling Walsall into the promotion mix but the arrival of Loupalo-Bi will hopefully help shoulder the goal scoring burden.

The 20-year-old has been extremely prolific at youth level - scoring 14 times for Fulham under-21s in all competitions this term.

How that looks at League Two level remains to be seen, but Walsall boast a strong track record with goal scoring strikers on the loan market.
