Mat Sadler issues Daniel Kanu boost as Myles Roberts and Rico Richards also set to stay

Rico Richards has struggled for game time in the league, but completed 90 minutes at the Sixfields Stadium.

Myles Roberts has played every single minute between the sticks in League Two - registering nine clean sheets in all competitions. 

And Sadler has confirmed the recall period for all three players has ended and that they will stay with the club for the remainder of the campaign.

"Obviously good news with Daniel because his loan recall period is over now. So he will be with us for the rest of the season," boss Sadler revealed.

"That's great news and it feels like that. The same with Myles, he had other options that he turned down and Rico Richards will also be with us for the remainder of the season. 

"Let's bring everything together now and get going again for a second half to the campaign that we're all looking forward to." 

Walsall bowed out of the EFL Trophy at the round of 16 phase for the second successive season after falling to a fourth defeat on the spin in all competitions. 

Albert Adomah headed Walsall into a fifth-minute lead, which was cancelled out when Kamarai Swyer equalised on 18 minutes with a thunderous shot.

Sam Hornby scored an own goal four minutes after the restart and Sam Hoskins doubled the Cobblers' advantage just past the hour-mark. 

Sadler on Hollman injury: 'We're gutted for him'

Kanu halved the deficit with a composed finish but Walsall had to finish the game with 10-men after Jake Hollman was stretchered off. 

The Australian, who was making his first appearance in over a month, after coming on at half-time, looked distraught upon his exit from the pitch. 

Sadler confirmed afterwards that the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury and is not expected to provide an update until next week.

"Normally with these injuries, you give them a few days and it might even be after the weekend with how bad that looks," he revealed.

"We'll get him scanned and I don't know if I'll be able to tell you more on Saturday. It'll probably be the other side of the weekend so that's as much as I probably know for now.

"Another one with training that we've had because the training [has been impacted] over the last 10 days. 

"Whenever there is a soft tissue injury, you always look back to that training. With the weather, it has definitely been different. 

"That mixed bag of a fortnight that it has been has maybe culminated in Jake getting an injury from that. 

"So we're gutted about that for him and now we'll have to look after him."
