Former Wolves goalkeeping coach who went on to join AC Milan makes Chinese Super League move
A former goalkeeper coach who was brought in at Wolves by Bruno Lage has made a move to China.
Former QPR and Dagenham and Redbridge goalkeeper Tony Roberts served at Wolves from June 2021 until the summer of 2023 - working under various different managers.
Prior to that he had at Arsenal, Swansea City, Birmingham City and within the national set up with Wales.
After Wolves, he secured himself a high profile move to AC Milan as the club's goalkeeping coach.
He spent a year in Italy before returning as head of goalkeeping at Norwich City until earlier this season.
And now it looks as though he is on the move again - as he took to X to confirm he was moving to the Chinese Super League.
It was also confirmed by reports in China - and is the second time he has worked in the country:
It comes after Roberts was understood to be close to a return to Wolves earlier this season.
Following the dismissal of Vitor Pereira and the shock news Gary O'Neil was in talks over a return - it is believed Roberts was going to be one of O'Neil's incoming backroom staff.
Roberts was praised throughout his time at Wolves - having been brought in by Lage, who he had worked alongside at Swansea.
During his time at Wolves, Lage described him as 'one of the very best'.
He said: "The way he works, he doesn't give rests to the boys. The way we start from the back and the way we want to play with our feet.
"The way we organise the set pieces. Every day he is in meetings and spends a lot of time in the gym.
"That's why it's a good challenge for John and Jose, to work with Tony, because for me he is one of the best goalkeeper coaches in the world."
