In recent years the Tractor Boys have continued to target Albion when it comes to defensive reinforcements.

Last summer they signed long serving left back Conor Townsend - who is currently out with a long term injury.

They also brought in Albion academy graduate Dara O'Shea who had moved to Burnley in the previous summer.

Then in January they came back in for goalkeeper Alex Palmer - before making two more Albion related additions this summer.

Cedric Kipre, who scooped the Albion player of the season crown in the 2023/24 season before joining French side Reims, made a loan move to East Anglia.

And then they also made a surprise £4m swoop for Darnell Furlong late on in the latest summer transfer window.

Their continued recruitment of former Albion defenders has coincided with an underwhelming start to the campaign - with Ipswich picking up just two wins from seven games prior to the weekend.

However, they recorded a big victory in the East Anglian derby against Norwich on Saturday and had two of their key former Albion men to thank.

O'Shea set up Kipre for a stunning opener in a 3-1 victory for Ipswich - which condemned the Canaries to yet another defeat.

After the game and his stunning half volleyed finish, the ex-Albion man pointed out what he 'used to be a striker'.

Both players start the game alongside Furlong and Palmer, with the full back becoming a regular fixture after starting the season at Albion.

And in a few weeks time the former Albion quartet could well be lining up against their former side - with Ryan Mason's men set to make the trip to Portman Road for a live Sky Sports clash on October 25.
