Mat Sadler feels Walsall loanee Daniel Kanu is demonstrating why the club "fought" hard to sign him, after his match-winner guided them to a 1-0 victory over Chesterfield at Bescot.

Kanu, who is on loan from Championship side Charlton Athletic, opened his goal scoring account for the club with what proved to be the only goal in the 43rd-minute.

The Sierra Leone frontman showed great tenacity to steal the ball and picked his head up to bury an unerring finish into the far bottom corner.

That result extended Walsall's winning streak to three games in League Two and also propelled them into second-place.

Sadler revealed afterwards that Kanu looked destined for a loan move in League One earlier in the summer and praised the club for working hard to bring him on board.

"He's a top striker. He's got a way of creating his own chances with his pace and his power," Sadler beamed.
