The 22-year-old central defender joined Albion as a ten-year-old - and rose through the youth ranks before landing a professional contract.

He broke into the first team fold and after spending time out on loan at Cheltenham Town and Bolton Wanderers - he was handed a new four year contract last summer.

Last season he was sent out on loan to Wycombe Wanderers and spent the majority of the season with the Chairboys - but was briefly recalled by Albion and netted in an FA Cup defeat to Bournemouth.

With the departures of Torbjorn Heggem and Kyle Bartley this summer, some predicted that Taylor may just get a chance to break into the West Brom side.

He featured in the recent Carabao Cup clash against Derby - but after Albion strengthened in the central defensive area with a number of new signings - Taylor has made the switch to Millwall.

It is believed they have paid in the region of £2.5m for Taylor - who has penned a 'long term contract' at The Den.

Millwall's director of football Steve Gallen revealed the Lions have been tracking Taylor for some time - and he has been their 'number one target' this summer.

He said: "I'm very pleased that we've got Caleb in. It's a very good signing for the club.

"He is someone we've been watching since I've been at the club - and before, as it happens. I had a good look at him in January and I've watched him a few times since.

"He was our number one target all summer with regards to a centre-back. With Japhet's departure, we've had to speed this one up - he is 22-years-old, good in the air and good on the ball.

"We hope he is someone we can help develop and move along with the football club."
