Mat Sadler has been pleased with the promising early signs of Walsall's new strike partnership between Jonny Stuttle and Aaron Pressley after their 3-0 win at Forest Green Rovers.

Bournemouth loanee Stuttle opened the scoring with a pinpoint header into the top corner to score his second in as many games in the 20th minute.

Aaron Pressley doubled the Saddlers' advantage later in the first half to notch his third goal of pre-season with a similarly precise header past Luke McNicholas.

"Jonny worked really hard to nick it on the pivot. Partnerships take a little bit of time and there are some really good signs with that pair," Sadler said.

"I think they both bring an athleticism, an energy and a physicality, which is what we want.

"Exactly the same when Albert plays, when Jamille plays and when Josh plays.

"We're pleased with the options we've got in there. A little bit of work to do in central midfield and I'm sure we'll see that as the weeks go on.

"I have to be pleased with that and now we move on to the proper stuff."
