The 21-year-old, who first arrived from Stoke City on loan in 2023, scored three goals in 89 appearances for Walsall.

Okagbue joined permanently from the Potters in the summer of 2024 and had one year left on his contract, after penning a four year deal with the Posh.

A club statement read: "We would like to wish David all the very best for his new adventure and thank him for his effort and fantastic professionalism during his time with the club.

"He made great strides over his two years here as he grew and developed as a player."

The Irishman becomes the 10th player to depart Walsall this summer and makes the step-up to the division above, as Taylor Allen did when he completed his switch to Wycombe Wanderers earlier in the window.

Liam Gordon and Ryan Stirk also rejected new deals to join local rivals Port Vale and fellow League Two outfit Chesterfield.

Donervon Daniels, Jack Earing, Danny Johnson, Douglas James-Taylor, Oisin McEntee and George Barrett also left the club at the end last season.
