Mat Sadler explains absence of Walsall trio in Aston Villa pre-season win
Mat Sadler has revealed Walsall defender Priestley Farquharson will be involved in a behind-closed-doors friendly at Essington on Saturday.
Farquharson has not featured for the Saddlers since suffering a long-term thigh injury during a 1-0 defeat at Tranmere Rovers in August 2024.
The 28-year-old, signed from Newport County in 2023, has been restricted to just 24 appearances for the club due to injury.
He signed a one-year contract extension with Walsall at the end of last season and Sadler is eager to gradually ease him into action during pre-season.
Farquharson has not figured in any of the opening three friendlies, but will begin to work his way towards match-fitness over the coming weeks.
