The 28-year-old is poised to leave Everton on a free transfer after a decade-long stay at Goodison Park.

Holgate had two loan spells at Albion in 2019 and 2024-25 respectively. He scored once in 23 appearances during his first stint and netted once in 27 outings at the Hawthorns last term.

The Jamaica international will team up with former Real Madrid striker Joselu in the Middle East.

Ex-Albion striker Andy Carroll has also made a shock summer switch to Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League South, just hours after they were taken over by a Qatari investment group.

The former England striker made 15 appearances during his brief stay with the Baggies in 2022 - scoring twice.

Carroll said: "My kids thought I was signing for Chelsea - they'll be in for a shock.

"It's a fantastic location and close to my kids, they will be able to come and see me play.

"I didn't want to finish playing football and I'm really excited to get involved in the leadership side and be a player.

"I've got experience in seeing how clubs are run, of all levels. I think I can add value.

“My first job is to go in as a player, I want to get them promoted.

“I was offered clubs with a lot more money, but I realised Dagenham was a project that I really wanted to get into."

According to reports, Portsmouth are on the verge of signing John Swift following his release by Albion this summer.

Portsmouth-born Swift made 126 appearances in three seasons at the Hawthorns - scoring 19 goals and setting up 12 more in all competitions.

The 30-year-old was let go by Albion at the end of his contract after failing to score in 26 matches last term.
