Khalsa win as Nisbett is on scoresheet for seventh game in a row
Sporting Khalsa returned to winning ways after a mid-season wobble with a hard-fought 2-0 victory in treacherous conditions against a solid and resolute Westfields side.
The win brought with it a seventh consecutive appearance on the scoresheet for Marvin Nisbett and a welcome return to action for skipper Lee Wherton as a second-half substitute after four months out with injury.
But it took a brilliant save from James Pemberton – with Khalsa clinging to a precarious 1-0 lead and with Westfields showing significant dominance – to secure the win. On 52 minutes Dave Meese popped up to head home a Mike Perks cross and give Khalsa the lead.
The turning point came on 69 minutes, Pemberton producing a fine block to deny Phil Glover from a corner.
And 10 minutes from time Nisbett headed in after his initial effort had been well blocked by John Hopkins.
