Hednesford 0 AFC Fylde 1

An early goal from AFC Fylde's Matty Hughes and a number of fine saves from keeper Ben Hinchliffe combined to sentence Hednesford to defeat in the Conference North.

The visitors almost took the lead in the fifth minute only for Town keeper Dan Crane to deny Dion Charles after the midfielder had burst through.

Fylde didn't have long to wait to net what proved to be the winner, though, with Hughes firing low into the bottom corner four minutes later.

Hednesford responded with Ahmed Obeng and Adam Thomas going close.

Six minutes into the second period Hednesford saw a chance to level the scores come and go when Matt Regan headed a Paul Ennis free-kick wide.

Charles had an effort ruled out for offside before Hednesford went close when Andy Todd's half-volley was well saved by Hinchliffe.

Thirteen minutes from time Hednesford thought they had equalised as Obeng fired home, only for the goal to be disallowed for offside.

Kyle Perry was then denied by another smart stop from Hinchliffe.

Two minutes from time, the keeper could do nothing but watch on as Town substitute Danico Johnson fired wide from just inside the box.
