Carlton Town 5 Tividale 2

In a game that was labelled a six-pointer and possibly the defining one of the season, Tividale promised so much but ended with nothing against a side also in the bottom three of Evo-Stik Division One South.

No-one could have seen what was to come as Tividale started much the better with chances for Malachi Farquharson and Chris Sterling.

But as can always happen when you don't make the pressure tell, Carlton took the lead with their first shot on target on 37 minutes when Daniel Gordon curled a free-kick over the wall and into the top corner.

On 43 minutes Tividale were back in the game when Sterling netted from the penalty spot after Chris Rabone had been fouled.

Sterling gave Tivi the lead a minute after the break with a curling shot.

But on 57 minutes Carlton levelled as a Joe Fitzpatrick free-kick out by the corner flag somehow ended up in the back of the Tividale net.

Sterling passed up the chance to complete a hat-trick and the home side took Tividale apart in the final 15 minutes as Romaine Graham, Josh Rae and Fitzpatrick, with his second goal, took advantage of some poor defensive work to wrap up the three points.
