Rangers learning as they go along

Smethwick Rangers boss Amo Sandur revealed that he could be going into tomorrow's clash with Wellington 'blind' – but that is no change for the sixth-placed side.

It is the manager's first season in charge at the Hillcrest Avenue club, having formerly been in control at West Midlands Division Two side Sikh Hunters.

But Sandur's men continued to punch above their weights with an impressive home win against fourth-placed AFC Bridgnorth on Wednesday night.

He said: "I don't know much about Wellington at all, we'll be going in a bit blind.

"I thought Bridgnorth would play 3-5-2 but they went 4-5-1 the other day.

"Everything's a bit new to me this season.

"It's been so-so for us this season. Swings and roundabouts.

"There are times we've done brilliantly but then brought back to earth with a bump.

"Bridgnorth are a quality team and the match was a great game for the neutral."

Sandur reiterated that Rangers' youthfulness runs from the touchline on to the field.

"We have the youngest squad in the division," he said. "Many are out of under-18s football, there's a few I've had for about 10 years from when I was playing."

Smethwick have played the joint-most games in the Premier Division so far with 21, and the 28-year-old boss is thoroughly realistic about the club's aims.

"Our objective at the start of the season was to avoid relegation," he added.

"We've done very well but I'm aware we'll drop down when teams catch up games. It's good to be halfway through the league and be sixth."

The boss is hoping that Yusifu Ceesay, who has been struggling with an injury, will be fit and firing for Wellington's visit, while club skipper Babucar Sauane, normally a central midfielder, is on standby to step in between the posts should first choice goalkeeper Amrick Virdee be unavailable for selection.

Wellington are eighth, three points behind Rangers but have played five games fewer.

Elsewhere in the division, Mark Jones' second-placed Cradley Town gear up for a top-of-the-table clash with Shropshire pacesetters Shawbury United – who are one point ahead.

Bilston Town Community go to Bewdley Town, who sit one place below them in 18th.

Dudley Sports, who are just seven points from top spot in fifth, hit the road to ninth-placed Ellesmere Rangers.
