The FA's technical director took part in the first fun run to take place in the village for more than 20 years.

The former Albion director of football, who is from Tettenhall, was among 25 teams of four competitors who took to the streets and fields of the village for a relay race on Sunday afternoon.

It was organised by 16-year-old Thomas Telford School student Jamie Ward, a talented runner who represents England and the Wolverhampton & Bilston Athletics Club.

He was asked to get involved by the Codsall Community Group, which was formed in March 2014 with the aim of bringing local people together for a range of recreational activities.

Nick Loftus, chairman of Codsall Community Group, said he was pleased to see a community running event return to the village.

"The last time there was any sort of event like this in the village was back in the early 1990s," said Mr Loftus, aged 57, from Fairfield Drive, Codsall.

"We want to make this an annual event and hope to bring a charity aspect to it in future years. As a group our aim is to bring people in Codsall together.

"This was a nice way of getting everyone out, while encouraging them to get fit at the same time."
