Birmingham boss Alex McLeish set to sign new contract

Birmingham boss Alex McLeish looks set to end speculation on his future and sign a new contract next week.

The Blues chief has been in talks with the board since the end of last season and is likely to pen a new deal when the club return from their pre-season tour.

He said: "The logistics at the moment, with me being in China, means we can't get it sorted straight away.

"But I know the parameters and we're going to try to get it done.

"Some figures have been sent to my lawyer.

"He has seen them and he is going to come to me first thing next week when we get back and we are going to move it forward."
