Birmingham full-back Stephen Carr admitted he lost his head over Villa's controversial winning penalty but he felt like Blues "were robbed."

Carr marked the penalty spot in anger at the decision and was booked for failing to leave the area before James Milner converted the spot-kick.

The Blues defender said: "I got booked for not moving away from the area but my head had gone to be honest. When players get around refs like that, they are angry. There's a lot at stake – pride.

"It just showed how bad the decision was. It's hard not to react like we did.

"I'm absolutely gutted, it felt like we were robbed."

Carr had not seen a replay of the clash between Roger Johnson and Gabby Agbonlahor.

He said: "I didn't need to – I saw it at the time, Roger Johnson got the ball. I explained to the ref that you have to be 100 per cent sure if you're going to give a penalty.

"But from his distance he could not see whether had got contact with the ball. What was I doing by the spot? There was something on my boot I had to get off! I was frustrated.

"Do I regret it? No, not at all. That's life. You make decisions."
