Fatigue no excuse for Saddlers boss
Walsall boss Chris Hutchings today insisted his men cannot use fatigue as an excuse if they fail to shine in the final run in.
Walsall boss Chris Hutchings today insisted his men cannot use fatigue as an excuse if they fail to shine in the final run in.
The Saddlers have played four of their last seven games with 10 men and face five more outings before the end of the League One season, starting at Huddersfield on Tuesday.
But Hutchings says they are fit enough to cope with the schedule which also takes them to Swindon and Carlisle.
He said: "It's not a worry now, they are fit enough to be able to handle it. It's a matter of re-energising and coming back and getting focused.
"It shouldn't be the case now, they are professional athletes, we train them and their fitness levels are very high.
"It's like a race horse, it'll have one race and then have the next one off. He won't race the next day, it doesn't happen so that's what we've got to do. The lads will be prepared."
And the boss says the management are always wary of overworking the players throughout the season.
"It's always about that, if we were at the start of the season and we felt it was the right thing to we'd do it," he added.
