Maierhofer's blast for McCarthy

Stefan Maierhofer has launched a stinging attack on Wolves boss Mick McCarthy which is set to land him in big trouble upon his return from his loan aat Bristol City.
The 6ft 7ins striker, who has followed team-mate Chris Iwelumo in being sent to Ashton Gate for much-needed match practice, has voiced his frustration at his lack of opportunities this season.
Maierhofer has made just two starts and seven substitute appearances since arriving at Molineux on a three-year deal from Rapid Vienna last summer. He has scored once, a consolation goal on his debut in September's 3-1 Premier League defeat at Blackburn.
But he says he is mystified why he has not featured more for Wolves following his £1.8m move.
"I don't have a clue why I've not been in the team. I work hard in training, yet others get to play," Maierhofer, 27, is quoted as saying. "Why have Wolves signed me only to not use me? Kevin Doyle cost £6.5m, so he has to play. Yet he has just got six goals in 25 games, which is not a great deal.
"The manager told me I lacked match practice after my operation.
"Then Andy Keogh came back from a three-month lay-off, trained for two days and played against Bolton and Manchester United.
"I feel like they are taking the p*** out of me."
Maierhofer, who made his Robins debut in a 3-2 defeat at Plymouth last night, underwent surgery for a hernia at the end of October and although he completed his recovery last month has still not figured in Wolves' survival fight.
It is understood he incurred McCarthy's wrath after announcing on his personal website that he was to undergo surgery. This is in breach of club policy.
He was sent off in the 1-1 draw at Everton in October and his last appearance came in the controversial 3-0 defeat at Manchester United in December.
The former Bayern Munich striker arrived in England after scoring 31 goals in 49 games for Rapid Vienna and starred in the team that dumped Villa out of the Europa League earlier this season.
Although his days at Molineux appear numbered following his outburst, Wolves could yet be forced to shell out more for the unhappy striker.
As part of his deal, Vienna are understood to be due a further £900,000 if McCarthy's men avoid relegation.
