An injury-time strike from Millwall's Alan Dunne denied 10-man Walsall their first win in three after they blew a two-goal lead at the Banks's Stadium.

The Saddlers took full control courtesy of strikes from Alex Nicholls and Richard Taundry in the first-half.

But a mix-up between goalkeeper Rene Gilmartin and skipper Jamie Vincent just two minutes later allowed Steve Morison to hand the play-off chasing Lions a route back into the game.

Millwall dominated thereafter and Walsall's job got harder when Matt Richards saw red midway through the second half for a second yellow.

And Chris Hutchings' men's resistance was finally broken in the third minute of injury-time when Dunne crashed in from the edge of the area.

Despite their late heartbreak, it was a much-improved performance from the Saddlers following last week's drubbing at Southampton, but they are now three games without a win.

Hutchings handed a first start in three months to winger Steve Jones, allowing Nicholls to play up front in place of Darren Byfield, while Rhys Weston was given the nod ahead of Darryl Westlake at right-back.

A minute's silence was held before kick-off for Saddlers legend Tony Richards, who passed away on Thursday.

Within a minute the Saddlers found themselves on the back foot when Vincent fouled Neil Harris on the edge of the area, but Chris Hackett's free-kick was headed away by Josh O'Keefe.

But it was the Saddlers who drew first blood in the 12th minute when Troy Deeney won the ball in midfield and lofted a ball over the top to Nicholls, who drilled a superb shot low into the bottom corner.

A good afternoon for Hutchings' men got even better a quarter of an hour later when Jones' cross was cleared to Taundry on the edge of the area, who unleashed a bullet into the top-right corner.

But it took just two minutes for the visitors to halve the deficit and the Saddlers only had themselves to blame.

A hopeful Lions ball over the top was left by Vincent only for Gilmartin to hesitate, his eventual clearance was straight into the onrushing Morison and the Millwall striker was left with the simplest of finishes into the empty net.

Galvanised by the goal, Millwall were inches away from pulling level on 37 minutes when Harris saw his header from Danny Schofield's free-kick bounce the wrong side of the post ,after Matt Richards had been punished for high feet.

They ended the half the stronger of the sides and came even closer on 40 when Schofield's shot crashed off the right-angle of the woodwork.

Millwall suffered a blow shortly after the break when leading scorer Harris was forced off with an injury to be replaced by Shaun Batt.

The towering striker had a chance to make an instant impact just a minute later, when Hackett picked him out at the back post only for the substitute's placed effort to trickle past the post.

And the Saddlers suffered a setback on 64 minutes, when Richards received his marching orders for a second bookable offence for a clumsy challenge.

Excellent clearance from McDonald to deny Morison four minutes later, while Gilmartin later atoned for his earlier error with a fine stop from point-blank range to keep out the striker's diving header.

Hutchings brought on Mark Hughes for Jones to reinforce his defence for the final quarter of an hour and the Saddlers looked set to have clinched all three points as the game moved deep into injury-time.

But home hearts were broken when a clearance fell to Dunne with just seconds remaining, who unleashed a rocket into the top-right corner.
