Clayton McDonald today urged Walsall to discover their mean streak.

Chris Hutchings' men haven't played for two-and-a-half weeks because of the big freeze and Saturday's trip to Southend is in the balance.

And McDonald, who made a permanent switch from Manchester City last week, says once the Saddlers start playing again they must demonstrate their killer instinct.

He said: "There's a bit of devil in the lads. In training people say 'come on, you're better than that'.

"There's more of that, more aggressiveness and the willingness to win. It's about ruthlessness. When you're near the goal you need to take your chance."
