Chris Hutchings has challenged Walsall to maintain their fine run and beat some of their biggest rivals.

The Saddlers chief takes his side to fellow play-off chasers Millwall next week and Bristol Rovers on Boxing Day.

"Look at the Premier League, when I was at Wigan we had to beat the teams around us. You want to beat the big teams but you had to beat the others," he said.

"It's going to be a tough period coming up now and we need a squad fully fit going into the Christmas period."

But despite some pivotal games Hutchings doesn't believe the Christmas period is any more important than others.

He said: "It's all the same, there are plenty of games coming up but it's always the next game which is the most important."
