Chris Hutchings insists he has not received any offers for his Walsall players and is hell-bent on keeping them at the Banks's Stadium.

The Saddlers chief has 24 players to call on ahead of the close of the transfer window at the end of the month after his summer rebuilding.

He expects them to fight for their places in the first month of the season and says he's received no bids to take his men on loan or permanently.

"Not at this moment in time," said Hutchings. "People know they will get a chance and they have to be ready for it.

"It's too early for people to come knocking on the door and say 'I want to go away on loan'. If they do, they do, but it just shows their mentality and maybe then they shouldn't be here."

The 51-year-old conceded he could be tempted to give some of his youngsters first team experience elsewhere later in the season but says, because of the number of games, they are staying put for now.

* Walsall legend Chris Marsh will lead a Midlands Select XI against the Chestnut Pub in a charity game at noon tomorrow.

The match, in aid of Compton Hospice, is at Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club, Castlecroft.

Admission is free but there will be a collection.
