Broadhurst retains at the Civic
Commonwealth champion Don Broadhurst roared to victory in his second title defence of the belt against Asamoah Wilson at the Wolverhampton Civic Hall.
The Birmingham super-flyweight headlined at the City's premier boxing venue for the first time, live on Sky Sports as the 'Friday Night Fight.'
He rolled over the Ghanaian challenger despite bleeding heavily from the nose early on.
By the sixth round, the referee had seen enough after another onslaught from the champion and called for the ball.
So Broadhurst retains and he is now firmly focussed on the next natural step - the British title.
And he hopes Lonsdale belt holder Lee Haskins was watching.
He said: "My British title shot has gone to purse bids at the moment , so I wanted this fight to keep my name in the champion's mind.
"It was great to be the main event at the Civic and great to be on Sky Sports, so I wanted to put on a show for Wolverhampton.
"I felt I relied on my boxing ability after the early cuts and put my opponent into trouble, he nearly went a couple of times before the referee called for the bell.
"Hopefully the next step for me is that British title."
