Tangerines boss Simon Grayson is keen on a deal for Edwards, which could be worth between £250,000 to £275,000 to Wolves.

Grayson is waiting for chairman Karl Oyston to give the go-ahead to spend again, following the £200,000 arrival of midfielder David Vaughan from Real Sociedad yesterday – their 10th summer signing.

Blackpool have some money to spend, after the £250,000 departures of Wes Hoolihan to Norwich and the sale of Kaspar Gorkss to QPR.

Wolves have taken the unusual step of allowing Edwards permission to talk to Blackpool, without having agreed a fee, in the hope of pushing through a deal.
