Seyi Olofinjana has fired Wolves a warning ahead of Jay-Jay Okocha's Hull debut tonight by declaring: "He's still Premiership class".
Okocha will start his first game in English football's second tier tonight after a sparkling half hour cameo for the Tigers on Saturday - and former Nigeria team-mate Olofinjana admits he poses a clear and present danger to Wolves.
Wolves need a win after tumbling to a weekend reverse at Bramall Lane, a defeat that piles on the pressure.
The Molineux men are slight favourites to record their second home win of the season, but the presence of three-time World Cup star Okocha illustrates it will be no easy task.
And Olofinjana knows that better than anyone.
He was paired with Okocha in the Super Eagles midfield during the 2004 African Nations Cup and feels Wolves must strangle his supply line - or pay the consequences.
"Jay-Jay is a hero in Nigeria for what he has achieved in European football - he is one of our greatest ever players and someone who led the way for a lot of other African footballers to come to England," Olofinjana said.
"It will be good to see him again - we played together for the national team and I saw what a good player he is first hand in training and in games for the national side.
"I learned so much from him. It is a fantastic signing for Hull to persuade him to join them - but we have to focus on our job and try to stop him.
"We cannot give him the space to hurt us. I think he will be a dangerous player in the Championship - he will hurt teams and as I have said we will have to be on our guard to defend against him."
Okocha's arrived at Hull after a lucrative one year stint in the Qatari league - a move that appeared to signal the start of a winding down of his professional career.
After that contract ended he was inundated with offers from England but sprung a surprise by opting for last season's Championship strugglers Hull.
Olofinjana admits he was as surprised as anyone that Okocha opted for the KC Stadium.
"It was a bit of a surprise to see him move to Hull City.
"As I found out the Championship is a very quick and very physical league which can take time to get used to, but I'm sure he will do well once he gets used to it."
