Pure animal magic for Lisa

Never work with children or animals, the saying goes. Lisa Carrington does both - and with great enthusiasm.

Never work with children or animals, the saying goes. Lisa Carrington does both - and with great enthusiasm.

She and her colleagues at Shugborough Park Farm are busy preparing for the estate's opening day of the season on March 19.

Lisa's official title is "gardening and groundsperson". She feeds and waters the rare-breed animals at the historic Park Farm, mucks them out, cares for them when they give birth, rounds them up when they try to wander off, drives a tractor, and has often dressed up in 19th century peasant costume to talk to parties of schoolchildren and adult visitors about farming in years gone by.
