Once there, crews found an area of about 70 metres by 100 metres that was set alight.

To tackle the blaze, firefighters used an extended hose reel jet to surround the fire.

Once the fire was surrounded, crews were able to extinguish the blaze using wildfire hose.

Danielle Coleman, Station Manager at Staffordshire Fire and Rescue said: “The cause of this fire was deemed to be accidental.

“We are experiencing extremely high demand across Staffordshire at the moment and I would urge people to take care in the countryside.

“Remember to take your rubbish home, avoid having barbeques and open fires and extinguish cigarettes properly.”
