The Sons of Rest Bowling Club, based in St George's Park, Wednesfield, was started in 1947 as a place for ex-servicemen to make friends and enjoy the sport.
Yesterday bowlers, their family and friends all gathered at the club to celebrate the milestone. Chairman John Dixon, who helped transform its fortunes when he joined in 1999, said he hoped the club would go on for many more years.
"There was more than 50 of us celebrating," he said. "We had a buffet and a few drinks to toast our success over the years," he said.
Ian Parsonage and Doreen Baker from Wolverhampton City Council also attended.
They helped supply grants for the club's refurbishment eight years ago which has attracted more members.
"If it was not for Ian and Doreen we would not have been here today," added Mr Dixon.
"There's a lot of work been put into the club and I must thank all the members and the committee because it would have been impossible without everything they do."
