Weekend rail disruption warning issued to passengers as line halted between Wolverhampton and Stafford

Engineering works mean no services will run between Wolverhampton and Stafford on Sunday.

Rail passengers have been warned of disruption this weekend, with the line closed between two main stations due to engineering works.

London Northwestern Railway said the works would see the line closed between Wolverhampton and Stafford across Sunday (August 30), with rail replacement bus services in places between the two stations.

A spokesman for London Northwestern said: “Engineering works are taking place this Sunday between Wolverhampton and Stafford, closing all lines.

“Train services between Birmingham New Street and Crewe/Liverpool Lime Street will run between Stafford/Crewe and Liverpool Lime Street only.

“Replacement buses will be in operation between Wolverhampton, Penkridge and Stafford in both directions.

“Customers are advised to use West Midlands Railways services between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton.”
