Two men charged in connection with West Midlands delivery driver robberies

Two men have been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery after van drivers were targeted.

Two men have been charged in connection with a string of robberies targeting delivery drivers.

West Midlands Police confirmed that William McDonagh and Daniel McDonagh had been charged with conspiracy to commit robbery after van drivers were targeted in Coventry during October.

The two men, aged 30 and 27 respectively, were remanded into custody to appear at Coventry Magistrates Court on Monday. No details are yet available about their appearance.

The force said the charges come after two men were arrested by officers from the Neighbourhood Crime Team investigating the robberies, in which delivery van drivers were threatened and goods stolen from inside their vehicles.

The arrests were supported by officers from the Gangs and SOCEX Team and Road Harm Team officers.

The force also offered advice to delivery drivers around staying safe.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “As we head into the winter and towards Christmas, delivery drivers are advised to make sure they keep their vehicles secure.

“Groups will follow delivery drivers and wait until they exit their vehicles before striking and stealing parcels from within.

“There are a number of things you can do to keep yourself and your property safe.
