All lanes back open on M6 after crash near Walsall left 300m of barrier needing repairs
All lanes on the M6 near Walsall have now reopened following a crash which caused major disruption and required extensive repair work.
The incident, involving a HGV and a car, happened last night (March 23) between Junctions 6 (Birmingham) and 7 (Walsall), leading to closures in both directions and long delays for drivers.
National Highways had warned that “complex” repairs were needed to fix damage to the central reservation barrier, with lane closures remaining in place throughout the day.

Around 300 metres of barrier had to be replaced, at the point of impact but also across surrounding sections affected by the collision.
In a later update on X, National Highways West Midlands confirmed that the work has now been completed and all lanes have reopened.
Traffic is now returning to normal in the area, although some residual delays may remain following the earlier disruption.
Motorists are still being advised to check traffic conditions before travelling as journeys begin to ease.
