All the West Midlands rail services set to be impacted by bank holidays and engineering works

Commuters have been advised to check their rail journeys over the new year as amended services and bank holiday changes threaten to impact train travel in the West Midlands.

National Rail said there would be be amended late-night services on New Year's Eve because of overnight engineering work in the Duddeston area of Birmingham. Trains across the West Midlands will also be affected by bank holiday service changes on New Year's Day.

Services affected include trains from Walsall and Rugeley Trent Valley to Wolverhampton and Birmingham, and trains from Lichfield Trent Valley to Redditch and Bromsgrove.

Rail replacement buses for West Midlands Railway will be operational overnight on New Year's Eve between Birmingham and Lichfield Trent Valley/Tame Bridge Parkway.

Trains from both Avanti West Coast and Transport for Wales have also warned that trains will stopping running earlier than usual on New Year's Eve.

More engineering work on Thursday, January 1 will mean all Avanti West Coast routes will be operating on a reduced timetable.

Services affected by bank holiday changes on New Year's Day include trains to and from Birmingham and Walsall to Rugeley Trent Valley, Hereford to Birmingham New Street, Shrewsbury, Telford and Wolverhampton to Birmingham New Street and Stourbridge Junction to Stourbridge Town.
