Motorists delayed after multi-vehicle collision on M6 - 'specialist recovery' needed for electric vehicles
A multi-vehicle collision on the M6 in the Black Country caused close to an hour of disruption for motorists as lanes were closed.
The collision happened on the northbound M6 at around 11.28am today (August 17) between Junctions 9 and 10 (near Walsall) and saw delays of up to 60 minutes and around five miles of congestion while recovery teams worked at the scene.
A spokesman for National Highways West Midlands said at the time: "Three lanes of four are closed on the M6 northbound between Junction 9 for Walsall and Junction 10 for Wolverhampton following a multi-vehicle collision.
"Specialist recovery is required for the EVs [electric vehicles] involved.
"Delays of up to 60 minutes and approximately five miles of congestion on approach."
A message was issued an hour later by National Highways West Midlands to confirm that the motorway had been fully reopened, with residual delays.
A spokesperson said: "All lanes now open on the M6 northbound between Junction 9 for Walsall and Junction 10 for Wolverhampton following the earlier multi-vehicle collision.
"Delays of up to 20 minutes remain on approach."
