What remained of the former Suttons Holloware factory building in Old Wharf Road has been transformed into four bespoke three-bedroom terraced homes.

The properties are the final four homes to be built at the Titan Wharf development by Stourbridge Canal.

The building was previously the old office building for the former Suttons Holloware business, which made pots and pans, would be retained and converted into four apartments.

It was built in 1922, designed by Webb & Grey, but had lain derelict for many years before the formerly industrial Old Wharf Road was transformed into the Titan Wharf development - comprising 256 new homes.

The building was said to be “in a state of semi-collapse” in a 2023 report by a Dudley Council planning officer who approved plans to retain the front part of the structure through rebuilding and repair and demolish the rest, while reusing materials where possible.

Developer Taylor Wimpey told the Express & Star the front elevation has since been sensitively reconstructed with materials carefully salvaged to rebuild the front facade to its original scale and proportions with gables and detailing.

Work is well underway to build the final four homes of the Titan Wharf development, with the properties expected to be ready for occupation in the autumn, with prices set to start from £375,000 to £425,000.

The four terraced properties have been given names to reflect the heritage of Stourbridge - The Glassworks in honour of its glassmaking history; The Silversmiths highlighting Stourbridge’s place at the centre of British glassmaking and iron production during the Industrial Revolution; The Artisan recognising Stourbridge’s artists manufacturing history; and The Ruskin - celebrating the nearby Ruskin Glass Centre.

Lucy Darby, sales and marketing director at Taylor Wimpey North Midlands, said: “The four unique properties in the former Suttons Holloware factory building will be the final homes available to buy at our Titan Wharf development in Stourbridge.

“These homes are a centrepiece of architectural excellence at the site. We have sensitively restored the exterior of the building and each home has a bespoke interior layout to utilise the building's unique historical features.

“Since its launch in 2022, the development has been incredibly popular with a wide variety of buyers, and it’s been a pleasure to watch the Titan Wharf community grow.”
