One of the victims of the Alton Towers rollercoaster crash is to star as a catwalk model.

Student Vicky Balch underwent an operation at the Royal Stoke University Hospital in Staffordshire to amputate her right leg above the knee after the crash on The Smiler ride in June.

She is currently learning to use a prosthetic limb

Now the 20-year-old has been invited to take part in a fashion show staged by campaign group Models of Diversity to promote positive role models.

A company spokesman said: "We have followed her story from day one and we asked to take part.

"It's not a modelling contract but we're so proud to have her.

"She is stunning and can be a positive role model."

The show is set to take place on Saturday in London.

Miss Balch, from Leyland, Lancashire, took to social media to express her delight.
