Smile for Joel: Former glamour model Katie Price in dugout to help charity football match raise cash

Watch out Shayne' is the message from former glamour model Katie Price ahead of taking up role of manager for a charity football match being held at Walsall FC's Banks's Stadium.

She has warned fellow match boss, singer Shayne Ward and his team, to not 'underestimate the Pricey' before the game on May 13.

It will raise money for Compton Hospice and Smile for Joel – set up in memory of 19-year-old Joel Richards from Wednesbury, who was killed in the horror attack in Sousse in 2015.

His uncle Adrian and grandfather Patrick, were also among 30 British tourists murdered – while Joel's younger brother Owen survived.

Speaking to the Express and Star she said: "I get asked to be involved in a number of charity initiatives and sadly I can't help and support them all. At first I was unaware of Smile for Joel – but once I read up on the background of the story, I simply had to be involved no questions asked.

"Quite simply, I want to remind the players of why we are all here participating for such a great cause. Hopefully just being in the changing rooms will keep the team on their toes. I might even start singing to get them keen on getting out onto the pitch."

Katie will be managing the Smiling Saddlers at the match, while Shayne will be with the Compton Wolves.

She continued: "All I can say to Shayne and his team is don't underestimate the Pricey! I'm going heavy up front and hoping it'll be enough to get a result. Shayne is a very talented individual but hopefully the Smiling Saddlers will get an easy ride. Katie and Shayne will join a host of famous faces, including EastEnders actor Jake Wood, boxer Joe Calzaghe and former Wolves midfielder Jamie O'Hara.

Speaking about fitting the day around her ever-changing schedule, Katie added:

"I've had to adjust my diary slightly to cater for this match – I simply wanted to be involved. I'm expecting a day of reflection, appreciation and celebration. It's difficult to imagine how the families involved coped with such a terrible event. I want the crowd to get behind both teams and make it a day to remember for all involved for what I am sure will be emotional too."

Katie rose to fresh fame on the third series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and is now a regular panelist on Loose Women.

The inaugural Run for Joel in September last year was supported by thousands of people and raised £27,000.

This year's event will take place on September 10.

Speaking when it was announced, Joel's mother Suzy Richards said: "Hopefully it will be bigger and better than last year."
