Spades in the ground for new Hydes Road pavilion as major community investment celebrated in Wednesbury
The work has begun to provide a community hub in the heart of a Black Country town with a new pavilion.
The Hydes Road Pavilion in Wednesbury has celebrated a major milestone with an official spade-in-the-ground ceremony on Monday (March 9) to mark the start of a brand-new pavilion.
This new development forms part of the Wednesbury Levelling Up Partnership Programme funded by the government.
Chair of the Wednesbury Levelling Up Partnership Board, Kallianne Titley, said: “The Hydes Road Pavilion is being re-built to better serve the growing community.
"The new pavilion will provide much-needed space for new sports programmes, including a community space for socialising after sports.

“I hope Wednesbury residents are already seeing the positive impact of our investment in the local community.”
Sandwell Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Neighbourhoods and Community, Councillor Suzanne Hartwell, said: “I’m pleased to see the progress of this project.
"It adds to other work led by the council to upgrade green spaces throughout Sandwell as we know how important these are to local residents.”
The Wednesbury Levelling Up Partnership Board said it was pleased to announce that the new pavilion will be named Patent Shaft Pavilion, a name it said was suggested by Wednesbury young people.
