Revealed: How much every councillor was paid last year in Walsall

Most Walsall councillors received a basic pay of £13,455.95 for the year but those with extra responsibility, such as committee chairs or portfolio holders, received special allowances on top.

The highest earner last year was the leader of the council, Councillor Garry Perry.

As leader, Councillor Perry earned an extra £36,792.48 on top of the basic pay, bringing his total to £50,248.44 during 2024-25.

Councillor Perry resigned from the post last month and his replacement will be appointed at an extraordinary council meeting on Tuesday, June 10.

The second highest paid member was last year’s Mayor of Walsall, Councillor Anthony Harris, who received an extra £27,573.85, bringing his total to £41,029.81.
