Two special versions of the Alpine A110 sports car are due to be unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show next week, called Pure and Legende.

As the names would suggest, Pure takes the A110’s lightweight ethos and pushes it even further and Legende is focussed on comfort.

Though slightly different to one another, both Pure and Legende editions share the same basic mechanicals, centred around a turbocharged 1.8-litre engine with 249bhp. They also use a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and double wishbone suspension at both the front and rear of the car.

Though details are as yet limited, it’s likely that the Pure will ditch many of the standard A110’s interior components, stripping as much weight as possible from the car. Alpine describe it as having a ‘minimalist yet high-quality approach’.

In contrast, the Legende edition car has been designed to be more luxurious and comfortable, making it more adept at longer journeys or cross-country tours. Six-way adjustable leather seats have been added, along with gloss-finished carbon-fibre interior trim. A suppler suspension set-up is a possibility, giving the A110 a more comfortable ride.

Three new exterior colours are also being offered with the A110, giving buyers more customisation options.

The A110 has already proved immensely popular, with limited-edition Premiere edition cars selling out within five days of going on sale.

Michael van der Sande, managing director at Alpine, said: “With the new A110 Première Edition we’ve taken the core principles that made Alpine so successful in the 60s and 70s – such as compact size, light weight and a very low centre of gravity – and deployed them with modern technologies.

“The car is an absolute pleasure to drive on country roads or on the track, but also very comfortable to drive every day.”

Further details on both new models are due to be released during Alpine’s press conference at the Geneva Motor Show on March 6.
