Appeal after serious crash on the A449 near Kidderminster

Police are appealing for information after a serious crash near Kidderminster.

Emergency services, including the Midlands Air Ambulance, were called to the crash at the junction of A449 Wolverhampton Road and Caunsall Road, at Cookley, at around 12.45pm on Tuesday.

A Ford Focus, which was travelling north on the A449, reportedly swerved onto the opposite carriageway into the path of a Mazda 2 GT Sport, police say.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours while emergency services were at the scene.

A West Mercia Police spokesman said: "At 12.45pm a car, a Ford Focus, was travelling north on the A449, when near to the junction with Caunsall Road in Cookley, it has reportedly swerved onto the opposite carriageway into the path of another vehicle, a Mazda 2 GT Sport.

"The cars have collided resulting in extensive damage to both vehicles, forcing the closure of the road for several hours.

"The driver of the Ford was taken to hospital to treat their injuries however they are not thought to be life threatening. The passenger in the Mazda was also taken to hospital for treatment to their injuries.

"We would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision or who has dash cam footage from their vehicle and may have recorded the incident."
