Craig Bloomer, aged 53, died on July 26 when he came off his motorbike in a small village, with his daughters Rebecca and Danni following on in a car behind, after they had been visiting a relative who lives in the rural town of Agios Mattheos.

When they turned the corner they found their father lying on the ground and despite the efforts of them and paramedics, he was taken to hospital but later pronounced dead.

Craig was well known in the Bushbury community and established The Cafe, in Showell Circus, a family business he had helped run with His wife Jane and his daughters for 11 years.

Rebecca said she and Danni were devastated, particularly after the loss of their mother - Craig's wife - from cancer just two years ago.

But she paid tribute to the 'wonderful community' who had rallied around to raise over £2,000 already for costs associated with their father's death.

Rebecca said: "Dad is being flown back, he did have travel insurance but that will only cover the costs of repatriation of the body. At least we can plan for his funeral now though which is something of a comfort.

"The hospital bill will still have to be paid and other associated costs and people have been so good, with over £2,000 raised already.

"Dad was a real character who helped build the cafe up from scratch - he was a carpenter and handyman by trade and did all the work on the furniture.

"He liked nothing better than talking to people whether in the cafe or the pub, he was certainly larger than life which I think has been reflected in the support we have had.

"Dad doted on his grandkids Piper and Finley and they will miss him so much, we all will.

"People are still in shock, some people didn't know for days as it was only reported in Corfu and many people around here can't believe he has gone but they have been so supportive, not just with the money side of things but with their best wishes and rallying around to help us out.

Rebecca added they would continue to carry on with running the thriving cafe, calling it a 'hub of the community.'

She said: "That is thanks to dad who just attracted people with his personality, the customers and his wider circle of friends will miss him so much but we would just like to thank everyone for their support."
