Police investigate disorder at Bilston Town FC follow FA Vase defeat as the club also launches an internal review
A non-league football club Bilston Town FC has launched an internal review after footage of a post-match altercation at circulated widely on social media.
West Midlands Police has launched an investigation into disorder at Bilston Town FC after the club’s FA Vase match on Saturday, February 7.
The incident occurred after Bilston Town’s 2–0 defeat to Droylsden FC, with video shared widely on social media appearing to show several individuals involved in a confrontation close to the touchline.
In the footage, a man wearing Bilston Town kit can be seen engaging in a scuffle, while a woman is pushed to the ground as others attempt to intervene. Children were also visible nearby, prompting concern among supporters.
There is also footage of a man, believed to be a Droylsden staff member, punching a Bilston Town player to the floor while running off the pitch.
Bilston Town FC has also launched an internal review.
A spokesperson from West Midlands Police said: "We’re investigating after a violent disorder at Bilston Town Football Club on Queen Street yesterday.
"We were called to reports of people being attacked at around 5pm.
"No arrests have yet been made.
"We are working to establish the full facts and will be contacting the victims to get full statements, and will be reviewing mobile phone and CCTV footage.
"Anyone with information has been asked to get in touch with us on 101, quoting 20/139817/26."

In a statement released after the footage began circulating, Bilston Town FC said it was aware of the incident and stressed that the video did not reflect the overall atmosphere of the match or the behaviour of the majority of supporters in attendance.
The club confirmed it is reviewing all available footage to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and determine what action, if any, may be required. Club officials also thanked Droylsden FC and their supporters for their cooperation following the match.
A club statement read: "We understand that there is a video or videos shared by people from the game today. We would like to state that this is not a fair reflection of the game or day as a whole. As a club we are in the process of investigating all footage from today’s game. We would like to thank the supporters of @Droylsden_FC for their cooperation."
The FA Vase tie itself passed without incident on the pitch, with Droylsden progressing to the next round. Anyone with information or footage relating to the incident has been encouraged to contact the club directly as enquiries continue.
